Commercial lighting for The Firmdale Hotels

In 1996 I designed the first Disc table lamp, this version was made from hand spun anodised aluminium discs, it caught the attention of Kit Kemp who was opening The Charlotte Street Hotel - opened 2000. Adaptations of this design was used on the bar, we also anodised in pink and then reworked in Lucite for The Soho Hotel and then when The Ham Yard Hotel opened we made adaptations for the bar too. It became their iconic lamp, and can still be seen on the bars and in the rooms of these beautiful hotels.

We discussed a simpler lamp for the bedrooms and this led to the design of the Tribe table lamp for The Charlotte Street Hotel, the hotel is situated In Fitzgrovia, influences of the Bloomsbury Group and an early influence of African tribe art - lead to inspiration from African neck rings, from the Ndebele tribe. Our rings are hand spun aluminium. These lamps can still be seen in the hotels bedrooms, they were also used in the bedrooms of The Ham Yard Hotel.

Light panels of flocking and blocks of colour for the bar at The Soho Hotel, striking art works incorporating light, I designed theses to bring light into the area of the bar at The Soho Hotel

To link the conservatory of The HamYard Hotel I designed The Glass Moss on silver Birch Stick, this piece has also travelled to New York and can be seen at The Crosby Street Hotel.

It is a credit to their design that these pieces are still, nearly 20 years later, to be seen in these hotels.
