Lowther Shells
Double headed pair of Shell wall lights.
Large grey scallop shells supplied by client, along with a lovely horde of smaller shells.
I designed a pair of double headed electric wall sconces.
Keeping the soft forms of the shells, and positioning them so they overlapped and would give luminance to each other, I designed an oval backing to compliment these forms. They are a also a mirrored version, so a pair.
The brass fittings have ben patinated back to compliment the colours, and a soft bronze brass pearl added to each shell.
Working to incorporate my clients shell collection, and to act as a backdrop to the scallop shells I worked with shell artist Carolyn Brookes- Davies. We designed a more biomorphic background then is her usual style, and incorporated little shards of mirror to work with reflecting light and breaking up the surface.
