WHITE MAGNOLIA PENDANT LIGHT
WHITE MAGNOLIA PENDANT LIGHT
The design and concept came about when I was approached by a lighting designer called Zara Vaux and her client who loved gardening and were renovating their new home in Suffolk. There was a double height atrium space above the kitchen, which is where this light would go.
There was also a magnolia in the courtyard outside the kitchen.
These beautiful sculptural shapes lent themselves to the material I have been working with - curved plywood, and the gesso shell, helped reflect the light.
By the hand made nature of each petal - each one is hand curved and then cut, the edges are sanded back to feathered edges, each Magnolia flower is unique.
The hand bent brass rods are carefully place to allow each petal to lift, some shield the light, some enclose.
As in nature, some flowers open and shut.
Hand made from curved wood, which is shaped and sanded back to a feathered edge.
3-4 layers of gesso, which is sanded back, sometimes revealing the wood underneath.
A coat of beeswax, adds protections and a slight sheen
Each petal unique and carefully positioned before being fixed in place.
The pendant light has 4 petals on solid brass fittings.
A solid brass SES lamp holder - we recommend a gold topped SES lamp.
A solid brass rod.
2 metres of linen flex, which can be cut to size onsite.
and a solid brass ceiling rose.
Price is for one pendant
