CALYX WALL LIGHT NEW 2024, designed 1992
Calyx -
First Designed in 1992, now re released for 2024.
Following on my pared back style, simplicity, refinement, this wall light is part of the Calyx family.
Inspired by Brancusi Bird in Space
I designed a pared back form, where the shade would flow into the stem, to create a simple unfettered form.
The wall light has a wider shade, now made with a twirl of lampshade parchment.
Gesso and gilded wall plate, with a stained gesso or a good natural painted stem.
We now use good natural organic paints, which we sand back and apply a coat of beeswax.

French Grey
Royal Grass Green
Aquatic
Eating room red
Naples Yellow
Or I can paint with a supplied colour sample

Hand turned from farmed poplar, made in Norfolk.
The base is then gessoed and gilded.
options for the water gilded base are;
23kt gold, silver, silver in blues, old bronze.

Stems painted in a good natural organic paint, recommend Edward Bulmer.

Which we sand back and give a coat of beeswax, for a soft protective sheen.
The shade is a whirl of parchment lampshade material which is fastened by two brass Chicago screws - introducing a touch of saddlery.
I designed this for this light, to create a seamless flow, with no shadow of shade ring.
Calyx means a whirl of petals, the soft parchment shade with its overlap and soft edges plays with this concept.
G9 lampholder is hidden by a polished brass cup.
